eligibility

  • Submissions are open to anyone - WorldWide

  • You can submit more than one film - you just have to pay for each submission.

  • you can submit a film to more than one category - you just have to pay for each category.

  • exclusions: TLFF Judges and personnel cannot submit films for consideration

"tell me a story" theme

  • We are looking for films which tell a visual story and infom the viewer. we are looking for content that is more than just amazing timelapse sequences.

  • we will be judging on how well the film conveys a message to the viewer.  

content

  • 51% of footage time must be "Time-altered"

    • "time-altered" refers to any filmmaking technique (in-camera or during post-processing) which alters the time signature of the footage.
      - including any/all timelapse / hyperlapse / stop motion and editing techniques

  • Submission may contain footage of real-time video, stills, text & drone video

  • maximum LENGTH FOR Submissions - 6 minutes (including titles)

  • SUBMISSION MUST BE CREATED AND/OR "FIRST SHOWN" AFTER January 1, 2018

  • SUBMISSION CAN BE SHOWN AND/OR PUBLISHED PREVIOUSLY/SIMULTANEOUSLY

  • sexually explicit material is not permitted

tech

  • preferred aspect ratio 16:9 (1920 x 1080), but other aspect ratios are accepted
    mp4 is fine for initial submissions.

  • for consideration - submissions must be hosted on either Vimeo or YouTube.
    they can have public access or accessed via a password during the judging process. 

rights

  • Submitter must have all rights to all footage in their Submission / including soundtrack

  • by submitting your film, Submitter Grants TLFF non-exclusive rights for footage to be shown whole or in-part (print/web/video/teasers/festival) for activities related to the Timelapse Film Festival

  • TLFF is not granted rights to transfer viewing rights to any other party

  • TLIFF accepts no liability/cost for accepting and/or showing the submission

  • To be considered - submitter grants TLFF rights to show the video PUBLICLY as part of the timelapse film festival

judging criteria

  • adherence to submission rules and guidelines

  • ‘story’ / ‘message’ - The theme is “tell me a story”. Your submission needs to inform the viewer.

  • “timelapse” technical skill

  • Editting

  • music selection

final submission requirements
(for official selection films only)
(mp4 is fine for judging)

  • 1920 x 1080p / 16x9 is the preferred dimension and aspect ratio
    Other dimensions / aspect ratios will be considered

  • Codec: ProRes 422 LT/HQ preferred

  • Data Rate: minimum 100 Mbit/s preferred - This is very important for showing footage on a large screen!

  • Frame Rate: 24/30 fps preferred
